Jackson in Hong Kong (February 24 - March 1, 2011)

Hi bloggies! This is Jackson.
On our first day in Hong Kong my dad and I got haircuts. After that we went to the Nan Lian Gardens. It some really pretty plants and it was really quiet and peaceful. Near the end of the path there were some bonsai trees. After that we went to the Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple. The Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple is a place where three different religions pray. The three religions are Taoism, Confuses, and Buddhism.

Then we went to a couple markets. The first was the flower market. It had a bunch of pretty flowers. It smelled nice too! Then we went to the goldfish market. It had a bunch of colorful fish. In some tanks they had sea anemones.  Some were sold in plastic bags. Then we went to the bird market. I thought it was really cruel because there were a lot of birds in really small cages. Then we went to a jade market. They had had a bunch of purple and green jade made into bracelets, necklaces and we even saw a jade chess set!  And the last market was the night market that had things like glasses, waving plastic kitties and small things like that.
Another day we went to catch the steepest tram in the world to the peak of a mountain! I was not leaning back but the tram was making me!  At the top of the mountain we got to see the whole of Hong Kong from a sky terrace!

Then we went to the Stanley market. At the Stanley market we saw some people controlling a costume dragon! Then we walked through the stores and I bought a toy electronic helicopter. At the end we saw some awesome replica terracotta warriors that we thought would go great on our lawn but we didn’t get them.

Then we went to Aberdeen and got a Sam pan boat around the harbor. And later we went to the famous floating restaurant Jumbo. At the back they displayed some fish, shrimp and crab. Our dad told us that James bond had been there in a movie.

The next day we went to Kowloon Park. At Kowloon Park we saw some people doing martial art demonstrations. They did tai chi!

fter that we went into a building and saw some display cases with miniature parts of Hong Kong made out of Lego! There was Lego costume dragons and a Lego temple and it was really cool. One display had famous and important parts of Hong Kong all in one! Like the pandas, the peak tram and all that.

That night we went to see a light show. It had lights everywhere! It lit up the sky!  The sky line was pretty to! After the show we walked home and saw gooey ducks! A gooey duck has a clam like shell but then a long slippery sausage-like things coming out of the end.  Some people eat them and some people just make fun of the way they look.

Another day we went to an amusement park named Ocean Park. At Ocean Park we first went to the aquarium part. It had fish and everything you get at an aquarium but also a lot of types of sharks!  After that we went to the pandas! We saw the red pandas which are sooo cute and the giant pandas! We saw the giant pandas eating bamboo right in front of the glass! They would tear the leaves of with their teeth and make a clump in their hand which then they would stick in their mouth. On the way out there was a giant salamander. Then we went to see two more in a different part that were eating pellets. Then we went to see the goldfish. The goldfish were really unique! Some had really fleshy part and others had big eyes or bumps on their backs!  After that we went onto the rides. First we went on a roller coaster that went upside down, then a swinging boat and a few other rides. For a fast food they had grilled squid!!! At the end we went back to the pandas and saw one climb his tree! Then he started walking around and then went back to the corner of his enclosure.

On our last day we went to Happy Valley Racetrack. Happy Valley Racetrack is a Racetrack for horse racing. Savannah and I did a lap but it was too big to do two! It was hard to do one!

Hong Kong was fun and had a lot of exotic foods like caterpillar, birds nest and lots of others.  I hope I can bring my kids here.
